Filament Spool Winding Handle

This versatile handle can be attached to an empty filament spool, turning it into a handy tool for holding filament samples. The handle makes it easier to spin the spool and wind the filament into place. Drill a 10mm hole in the filament spool, ensuring that the handle fits snugly inside when attached. You may need to enlarge the hole slightly to accommodate the spindle - just wiggle the drill a bit! Assemble the spindle by supergluing both halves together securely. Insert the spindle through the hole and apply a few spots of superglue to the interior of the spindle cap, securing it firmly to the filament spool. Snap the handle into place with ease. Use your spool holder on your printer to wind filament onto the spool smoothly. Printing the spindle in two halves, with the joining surface flat on the bed, guarantees a stronger spindle when squeezed to attach the handle. I've included the full spindle design for those who prefer not to glue the halves together. Update: I've increased the size of the spindle head, providing a larger surface area for gluing it securely to the filament spool.
