This versatile handle can be attached to the side of an empty filament reel, transforming it into a reliable storage device for filament samples. The ergonomic design makes it effortless to spin the reel and secure the filament in place. Drill a 10mm hole through the center of the filament reel, ensuring that the handle remains within the diameter when fitted. You may need to enlarge the hole slightly to accommodate the spindle - adjust your drilling technique accordingly. Secure both halves of the spindle together using a strong adhesive, such as superglue. Insert the spindle through the hole and apply additional adhesive to the inside of the spindle cap to firmly attach it to the filament reel. Snap the handle into position, ensuring a secure fit. Use your printer's spool holder to wind filament onto the reel. Printing the spindle in two separate parts, with the joining surface facing downwards on the bed, guarantees that the layers will be aligned for maximum strength when the handle is attached. A full version of the spindle design is available if you prefer not to assemble the halves using adhesive.
