Filament spool roller
thingiverse
Ever had trouble with the filament spool refusing to rotate? Or have you ever heard a thud coming from the spool holder every now and then? If you're like me and use a simple acrylic spool holder, you've probably encountered similar issues. In many cases, the problem is that the diameter of the spool holder axis is smaller than that of standard filament spools. This design allows for using smaller spools with the same holder, but it also has its downsides: if the filament spool's inner tube is larger than the filament axis, the extruder will need extra power to pull the filament and the extruder teeth will wear out more quickly. To solve this problem, I designed a roller that fits most of my filament spools, especially Herz filament spools. The roller has a diameter of 52mm and an inner hole diameter of 17mm. After printing, you can easily pop the top side of the roller into the roller tube without needing any additional glue. So far, I've only tried printing with PLA, so I don't know how it will work with other materials. I'm uploading this model in the hope that it will be useful, but I'm not responsible for any problems or damages that may occur from using it.
