Filament Spool Roller (for threaded rod)

Filament Spool Roller (for threaded rod)

thingiverse

After becoming fed up with the time-consuming process of using conventional two-piece spool holders that were inserted into both sides of the filament spool, I took matters into my own hands and designed this one-piece spool roller. It has significantly simplified my task of changing filament. The square end on the roller serves as a safeguard in case the spool attempts to slide off at that end. The other end remains open without a square retainer, allowing me to easily slide the spools on and off the roller. A hole is drilled through the roller for the threaded rod that came with my Anet A8. You may need to perform some drilling if your threaded rod is too small. Fortunately, mine fit snugly but I still decided to drill it anyway to give it more freedom to roll on the rod. So far, I have not encountered any issues with spools trying to slide off the side. Enjoy! Update (8/1/19): I recently discovered, much to my dismay, that some of my spools were too small for the roller which measures 55mm in diameter. To address this issue, I've added a file containing a smaller, 51mm roller design.
