Filament Spool Roller
thingiverse
Update: 6SEP2018: I uploaded three new roller sizes and renamed the original size to 96mm. The roller width sizes are now 96mm (original), 106mm, 126mm, and 170mm. These spool sizes will be accommodated by these rollers, so don't forget you'll need the corresponding spool roller lock as well. I created a new filament roller that is smaller than my original design, which makes it small, lighter weight, and uses less filament than my original design. The rollers are a larger diameter than they needed to be, but that was done to increase torque and lower rolling resistance of the spools. This puts less stress on the extruder stepper motor. There are small recesses to add rubber feet on the bottoms of the sides. Print each file twice to make a full roller set. UPDATE 9JUL2017: I added locking clips to prevent the roller sides from coming apart. This works great even if the bearings have a loose fit. Print two and attach per the photos. Requires: four 608zz bearings Please post your makes and comments! Thanks! Printer: Hatchbox Alpha Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.25mm Infill: 20% Notes: I always print with four shells, so if you print three, your infill will have to be a higher percentage. Post-Printing Some light sanding of the bearing posts might be required. Some light sanding might be required to fit the ball bearings onto the posts. You could also just heat the posts with a lighter and push the bearings on instead. After pushing the bearings on, I heated the end of each post and flared it out to prevent the bearings from ever walking themselves off of the posts. I don't think it would happen but just to be safe I flared them.
