Filament Spool Holder with 608 Bearings for Anet A8
thingiverse
I'm excited to share with you my take on a filament spool holder for my 3D printer. This design is specifically tailored to work seamlessly with the factory Anet A8 spool holder rack, which I've had great success with. To ensure compatibility, I made sure the threaded part is approximately 4.5 inches wide, perfectly accommodating the standard factory holder. I also deliberately designed the threads to be loose, allowing for a noticeable wobble when tightening the nut. This intentional design choice was made to cater to printers that may not meet precise dimensional standards and to account for any printing imperfections. Rather than risking too-tight threads, I opted for a slightly looser fit to guarantee smooth filament rotation. This spool holder is designed to securely hold standard 608 (22mm) bearings, which provides excellent centering and stability. The factory threaded rod fits snugly within the bearing, allowing for effortless filament feeding. In fact, the holder spins so smoothly that it's almost too easy! My first print with this design was a PLA test piece. To further refine the STL files, I made some adjustments to increase the length. Additionally, I encountered bridging issues during the initial printing of the bearing bores, which I successfully resolved by chamfering them. The next print was flawless, demonstrating the effectiveness of my modifications.
