I've encountered issues with the regular filament holder of my Ender 3, particularly when using 2kg (~4 pounds?) spools. The weight on the frame and friction between the spool and rod caused significant failure. To address this, I designed a simple two-legged spool holder featuring two 7x22mm ball bearings. By hammering them into the main rod and inserting the roll ends, I've achieved a sturdy solution. This design allows for 2kg spools, but with added support from books under each leg, larger spools can also be accommodated.
