Filament Spool holder

Filament Spool holder

Simple but solid filament reel spool holder. While converting a Solidoodle printer to a Bowden type extruder, I wanted to use a side mounted filament reel spool holder that can accept several different sizes of spools, including 1Kg and 2Kg. Since few manufacturers have standardized on anything other than the filament size and spool weight, I aimed for flexibility in accommodating multiple spool sizes. This creation was designed for the side of the Solidoodle printer but will work with any printer that has a flat mounting surface. See the "text" document in files for more information. Print Settings: Printer: Migbot i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.20 Infill: 30% Filament: Solutech PLA, Black Notes: To print this part, pause to check that the bolt head will fit inside the holder before printing the entire part; you want it a little snug. Depending on your printer settings, you may have to scale the part up or down slightly. Use a standard 5/16" x 5" bolt for the center axle and clean up the hole with a standard 5/16" drill. Post-Printing: Parts Required: (4) 6 – 32 bolts and nuts to attach the reel spool holder to the side panel of the printer (1) 5/16” x 5” bolt (4) 1/4” flat washer (1) 5/16” nut How I Designed This: Parts to Print: Filament reel spool holder parts to print: Reel spool holder mount (attaches to the side panel and holds the 5/16” bolt) Reel spool holder - inside flange Reel spool holder - outside flange Spacer 3/8” (washers and spacers take up extra room left for larger reels) Spacer 1/2” (washers and spacers take up extra room left for larger reels) Spacer 1 1/4” (washers and spacers take up extra room left for larger reels)
