This modification of the Malyan M150's (or similar I3 clones) stock filament holder greatly improves the filament feed of the printer. With the original parts, I experienced periodic under extrusion in a print due to uneven feeding of the filament. This spool holder change successfully resolved the problem. Parts: Two printed cones are required. Two inline skate bearings (608ZZ) must be used. One 5/16" nut (M8 nut) is necessary. One 5/16" Nylock nut (M8 Nylock Nut) can also be used. One 4" to 5" of 5/16" threaded rod (10cm M8 threaded rod) should be selected. One 5/16" wing nut (M8 wing nut) is a good choice. The Nylock nut and threaded rod can be replaced by an appropriate sized bolt. The bolt will need to be threaded all the way to the head. Instructions: Use a punch to mark the drill hole in L shaped filament support. See pictures for location. Drill a hole in L shaped filament support (either 5/16" or M8). Thread nut onto threaded rod, stick rod through hole in support, and lock down using the Nylock nut. Press bearings into cones. Place one cone onto threaded rod, place filament spool, then place the 2nd cone. Hand tighten the cones and filament spool using the wing nut. Do not over tighten or you could damage the bearings. As mentioned above, the threaded rod and Nylock nut can be replaced with a fully threaded bolt. Use whatever you have on hand. Print Settings Printer: Malyan M150 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% Notes: Sliced with Kisslicer v1.5. Filament Type: PLA
