Filament Spool Holder for Replicator 5th Generation

Filament Spool Holder for Replicator 5th Generation

cults3d

This spool holder is specifically designed for use with the MakerBot Replicator 5th Generation 3D printer and provides a low-friction alternative to the built-in spool holder. It is fully compatible with both standard MakerBot filament spools (thin and tall) and smaller spools (fat and short) preferred by many third-party manufacturers. To accommodate different types of spools, simply slide the filament supports closer together or further apart and swap the retaining dowel from bottom to top (or vice versa). Two long dowels are used to bridge the printer's top surface while a third, smaller dowel is inserted through the center of the filament spool to prevent movement. This additional safety check is optional. If the bottom supports move excessively, consider using 3M Command strips in small sizes to secure them to the MakerBot chamfer. Printing requires four bottom components (either short or tall) and two top components. In addition to your chosen filament, you will also need: 2 x 5/8 inch wooden dowels cut to at least 20 inches 1 x 5/8 inch wooden dowel cut to about 6 inches 4 x standard skateboard bearings (ABEC 7 bearings were used in this project) Please share your prints to showcase successful implementations.
