Filament Spool Holder Adapter

Filament Spool Holder Adapter

I was having trouble feeding some affordable PLA filament, with the extruder struggling to pull the reel forward due to the larger diameter of the reel hole compared to the Wanhao Duplicator/Monoprice Maker's spool holder arm. To solve this issue, I created a fresh OpenSCAD file that perfectly fits the spool holder arm. The design was inspired by the T-Slot mount spool holder by npushis on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:70275). Both the inner and outer diameters of the adapter are customizable, and I've had excellent results so far. My initial inner diameter turned out to be slightly too tight, but I was able to adjust it by shaving off some plastic with a pocket knife, making it fit smoothly. The adapter hubs attach securely to the spool holder without rotating, while the filament reel rotates freely around them. To minimize friction, I positioned the hubs about 1mm apart from the reel. Printer Settings: * Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3/Monoprice Maker 3P * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.2mm * Infill: 10% Post-Printing Notes: The fit on the spool holder was initially too tight, but I resolved this by carefully shaving off some plastic from the inner diameter with a pocket knife (or a Gerber multi-tool). This adjustment ensured a snug fit without adding extra friction. Design Overview: This simple OpenSCAD document consists of three cylinders: two representing the outer and inner hubs, and one for the spool holder's diameter. The union of these cylinders creates the adapter, which can be customized to fit various spool holder diameters.
