One issue I've consistently encountered with my filament is that every time the printer draws out some material, the spools begin to roll and continue doing so until they fall off the table. To prevent this from happening, the holder has a curved edge on the back which should stabilize the spool each time the printer pulls it in. This holder is surprisingly straightforward. The spool fits snugly within the curve of the object, making it spin effortlessly and feed the printer without getting jammed.
