Filament Spool Closet Rod Hanger
thingiverse
I came up with something that lets you hang your filament spools from a 1 3/16" (30 mm) closet rod. The design features a 54mm lip on the end, which works great with my 1 kg rolls of Monoprice filament that I've been using for a while now. On February 6th, 2018, I updated the post to address concerns about sagging. If the spools start to droop, you can simply get another 30 mm closet rod and run it through the middle of the spool holder. Then, print out two more of these holders and use them to hold up the hanging spools, preventing any sagging. When changing out spools, just remove the rod and feed in a new roll from the hanging spool. It's a simple process that works out nicely for many users. On Cinco de Mayo, I uploaded an updated model of the spool holder at someone's request. The "smaller spool" version has a 48 mm diameter lip and a 44 mm spool holder.
