This spool axle accommodates 52mm diameter spools and utilizes two standard 608ZZ ball bearings. Feel free to employ those higher-friction low-cost ones, as they are actually better suited because they will function as a gentle brake. It includes spring- (or rubber band) -loaded movable clips to secure the filament spool against sideways slippage. One clip per tube should be sufficient, but two or three offer some redundancy. To attach the clips, thread a small rubber band through the clip's hole and over one spoke on the other end of the tube, then press in the bearings to prevent the bands from slipping off. To insert/remove a filament spool: pull out the clips until they can be swiveled by 90 degrees so they both fit through the spool's inner hole.
