Filament Spool - 100% Printed
thingiverse
I designed a spool to share filament with a friend, so I sat down and created one from scratch. I knew there were already some designs out there, but I wanted something entirely printable, requiring no added hardware, and incorporating my own unique ideas. There are two versions of the hub - short and long - depending on your filament holder, the longer version may be necessary to prevent the arms from getting caught. Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice Maker Select (Wanhao i3) Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% Notes: Print one Hub (short or long), one Side, one Nut and three Arms. Lay all items flat for printing, with the threaded part of the hub facing up. Be extremely cautious of over-extrusion - the threads are high-precision. If you find that the nut won't thread onto the hub, you may be over-extruding - try reducing your flow rate slightly. With accurate extrusion, I discovered that the threads work well at 0.2mm resolution.
