Filament Splicing Jig (Remix)

<p>Always wanted a simple tool for joining filament pieces together - when the spool runs low or to join DIY multi color filaments (<a href="https://www.printables.com/model/105712-easy-multi-color-filament">Easy Multi Color Filament</a>).</p><p>I remixed LoboCNC's fine <i>Filament Splicing Jig</i>:</p><ul><li>Added compliant hinge to make it a single piece tool.</li><li>Made guide taps bigger and internal.</li><li>Added optional Clamp to keep Tool closed when splicing.</li><li>Eliminate the need for Elephant Foot compensation.</li><li>Small changes like more corner rounding.</li></ul><p>The tool prints without support in both PLA and PETG (tested).</p><p>The light gray model is printed in Prusa Silver PLA and the dark Gray is printed in Prusament PETG.</p><figure class="media"><oembed url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xFH69mRCB0"></oembed></figure><p>To use the jig, see video and photos.</p><p><strong>Note</strong>: It is important that the two filament pieces are straight before they are spliced together with the soldering iron. If the filament pieces are curved, they will not be joined properly.</p><p>When filaments is joined, clean it using a sharp knife to make an even diameter.</p><p><i><strong>&gt;&gt; If you like the model, please leave a like, a make or give it a rating… ;-)</strong></i></p>
