Built specifically for Joel's 3D printing community, this filament shelf is designed to meet the needs of enthusiasts. The entire project consists of four individual parts: two halves of the shaft and two register pins that ensure seamless alignment. Unlike other designs, this one doesn't require glue to assemble, but adding it can make the structure even more solid. To facilitate easy assembly, the register pins are also available for use with glue or as a standalone feature to keep the components securely in place when using press-fit assembly. The shaft of the holder is designed to accommodate spools up to 4.5 inches wide or 114mm in diameter. One notable aspect of this design is the inner guard, which positions the spools at a slight distance from the shelf to prevent them from rubbing against adjacent spools stored on the same shelf. When assembling the components, users can employ pliers to help press the pins into place if they're too tight to handle manually. The entire project was created with nominal dimensions in mind for a standard 1x2 board measuring 3/4 inch by 1.5 inches. This is the first design of its kind from this creator, and they're eager to produce more innovative projects like it.
