Filament sensor with a button to trigger print pause/filament change
thingiverse
Another smart filament runout sensor features an adjustable sensor/switch position and a convenient override button to pause printing instantly without navigating through the menu on your controller. This sensor allows smooth insertion of filament in both directions and can be easily moved out of the way when not in use. The hinge of the mount is cleverly assembled using a piece of filament, secured with glue gun at both ends for added stability. The included frame mount is specifically designed for the Tevo Tornado, so you may need to create your own custom frame mount to fit your printer's unique requirements. For reference purposes only, the schematics are provided, and the board file is included to help optimize wire soldering. As an electronics enthusiast, you'll likely be able to design a suitable circuit if you encounter any issues with the existing one. To assemble this project, use short PTFE tubing, one M5 bolt, two M5 nuts, a toggle button, a 3mm LED, and two resistors (500-1K ohm for the LED, 10K-100K ohm for the button). I employed a switch similar to KW-11, although the exact model is unclear. I've made adjustments to the final design based on my print results, but haven't reprinted it yet to confirm that everything still fits perfectly. When I need to retrofit my other printer, I'll revisit this project and make any necessary changes.
