filament sensor bracket CR10S
thingiverse
The filament sensor for the CR10S provides a snap-on fit which is poorly secured. This was especially evident during retractions, leading me to believe it could become a problem since one cannot monitor the printer continuously. To address this issue, I chose to make an adjustment. This modification secures the filament sensor directly onto the x-carriage of the printer, ensuring a snug and secure fit for both the filament entering and the sensor itself. This add-on uses only standard components. The screws on the x-carriage are sufficiently long to accommodate this special clip. The filament sensor's top section (only) from the CR10S is reused in this design. To complete it, simply insert the screws and slowly turn them with gentle pressure. Be certain to keep the screws aligned - that's all there is to it! I printed it with the handles facing the bed, which caused the sensor housing to stand upright. I used a 5-line skirt and opted for a layer height of 0.12mm since I'm a bit of a nerd. This should be fine even at 0.2mm. This remix directs the filament directly off to the side instead of curving it. It's smaller, easier to print than the original, and is compatible with x-axis dampeners, which I use. It also has plenty of clearance. Edit: After printing a second version (remodelled), it now provides more distance from the z-lead-screw and requires less filament to print. Additionally, it's much easier to print on the side. Due to these improvements, I've deleted the original version 1 and updated to version 2, which I'm currently using with great satisfaction and success! It fits perfectly and prints nicely without any further wiggling of the filament sensor or risk of getting lost. Note: This is a remix of a part by bsbmx. However, for version 2, there isn't much left of the original CAD file. The idea and basic principle remain creditable to the original creator - thank you!
