The Simple Filament Runout Sensor has evolved from my previous version. Check out the evolution here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1816196 To detect when filament runs out, you can use an optical sensor like this one: https://www.postavrobota.cz/Koncovy-spinac-opticky-endstop-pro-3D-tisk-a-CNC-d480.htm. Alternatively, a mechanical sensor such as this one can also be used to sense when the filament has run out: https://www.postavrobota.cz/Koncovy-spinac-endstop-pro-3D-tisk-a-CNC-d392.htm. This design is straightforward and uncomplicated.
