Filament Sample Spool for Small Build-Volume Printers
thingiverse
I've noticed that sample filament typically comes packaged in one of two sizes - small, tight coils or considerably larger coils. This presents a challenge for me since my printer (a Kodama Trinus) has a relatively small build volume, making it difficult to print a spool large enough for the small coils, let alone the larger ones. I came up with this design centered on a hub that is just small enough to be printed on my Trinus. The design also includes filament-holding "forks" of various lengths. With a bit of super glue and a few minutes' drying time, you can create a customized spool. The Spool w/ short forks holds filament on a 12 cm / 4-3/4" diameter. The Spool w/ long forks holds filament on a 15 cm / 6" diameter.
