Filament Runout Sensors Optical Side on Filament feed. ALL FAILS !!! This Thing is a Work-In-Progress, still needs testing. ALL FAILS!!! Well, apart from "a New one", no STL files here. New Optical Filament RunOut Pass Through Tube Sensor works. Prototyping, success. https://youtu.be/NdZg186fbuE Create an Optical Filament RunOut that will not require a break in a Bowden Tube*, ideal for flexible filaments and easier to feed filament into, etc.. For use with a clear Bowden Tube. Needs some more work to try to make it easier to set up, has to be adjusted just right. Could be made smaller, I have plugs inside that could be wired in directly saving space. For use with Marlin. define FILAMENT_RUNOUT_SENSOR and RAMPS 1.4 Optical Filament RunOut Pass Through Tube Sensor Fails https://youtu.be/QIe2AtYaIoQ I've done some basic testing with an End Stop, and I've found that the infrared signal can pass through some of the filament, even tried some printed parts (Sky Blue ABS) of about 2 mm thickness. These DO NOT signal the Optical End Stop, but the Optical End Stop works if I place a piece of cardboard between the emitter and the receiver. Some items appear transparent to the infrared signal, some black plastics, etc. SO THESE FILES are POINTLESS; I leave them here if anyone else wants to try. I've added a box for use with a TEMT6000 Light Sensor Professional Module Human Eye (Eye) PIC Arduino Pi (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132165205072). I haven't managed to get the TEMT6000 working as I hoped, so that is also a FAIL!!! "Pipe" model: A 4mm bowden tube will NOT fit between the 3mm gap of the emitter and the receiver of a standard 3D printer Optical EndStop without some work, cutting the tube or the emitter and the receiver thinner, etc. Also, the "Pipe" idea will not work without some other design changes; the light-blocking sections need moving in the lid part for the Optical EndStop to fit using the "Pipe" idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldfTFoZWonM with filament in, between the LED transmitter and the receiver so that the filament can pass through but if it breaks the light will signal that break... This Clear Bowden Tube will not require a break in it as it passes through; make changing filament much easier to do. Great for flexible filaments. I've been told: It won't work as 1.75mm filament is too small to block the optical head beam? Might do for 3mm? Added one called the "Pipe" Body Filament Runout Sensors Optical Side on, most likely the best one to use. This is easier to put the tube in between the emitter and receiver; all untested. A 4mm bowden tube will NOT fit. There is only a 3mm gap between the emitter and the receiver. Will the "Pipe" Body Filament Runout Sensors Optical Side on false trigger if an outside light gets turned on? Light passes along the pipe into the sensor? Or even will it work as hoped... I have to wait to see... I've added a Drop Down version, (again untested), this uses a drop down part that rests on the filament but will drop down and allow light to pass if the filament runs out or snaps. I hope. This should trigger the optical sensor; not tested by me yet. This is a remix. The uses small clips to fasten the lid on, not screws. The lid has a slot to slide wires in so plugs don't need removing from the Optical End Stop to fit it. I have designed this so that supports are not required, to do this there is a 4mm hole in the Body Part to place a piece of air tube, clear Bowden tube to act as a light pipe for the signal LED. It is for use with Marlin:- FILAMENT_RUNOUT_SENSOR: Note ADVANCED_PAUSE_FEATURE is required in Configuration_adv.h to use M600 with FILAMENT_RUNOUT_SENSOR and for connection of the Optical endstop to the RAMPS 1.4 board Set Unload Filament, etc in Marlin to zero feeding filament backwards into this will cause issues.
