Filament Runout Sensor for Ender 5 (uses stock microswitch)
cults3d
Uses the same micro switch as the stock XYZ limit switches, you can get these from here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SX11SKB/ Since the screws in the stock extruder are not long enough, I designed this to replace the metal plate that bolts the stepper to the frame. It's not very strong if printed in PLA so you may want to send the STLs away to be printed in nylon or polycarbonate. Note that the stock main board does not have a place to plug in a filament runout switch; you will have to upgrade it in order to use this. Also, it seems not all stock Ender limit switches are created equal. Before installing the switch into the print, you should hold the switch in place and try running a bit of scrap filament through it. The switch will make a clicking sound when it turns on and off. If it fails to turn on or turns on but fails to turn off, you may have to slightly bend the switch's metal actuator strip using a needlenose pliers. This will adjust the sensitivity of the runout sensor; you want it to click cleanly on when filament is inserted and cleanly off when removed.
