I designed this Filament Runout Sensor with PTFE Tube Support because I had a bunch of mechanical Endstops that I wanted to use. It's compatible with the makerbot.com style mechanical end stops, which are easy to find online. You can get them from banggood.com as an example. Just search for "6Pcs Mechanical End-Stop Endstop Limit Switch With Cable For CNC 3D Printer RAMPS 1.4" and you'll see what I'm talking about.
