Filament Runout Optical Sensor Generic Full Enclosure
thingiverse
This is a versatile full enclosure designed specifically for an optical endstop used in conjunction with a Filament Runout Sensor (FRS) on my Robo 3D printer, which operates seamlessly with the latest Marlin 1.1.0 firmware and RAMPS 1.4 board. Detailed information can be found at the link provided below, but this design is adaptable to any printer running RAMPS and a version of Marlin that has the filament runout sensor feature enabled. I chose pins D20 for ease of setup. This case was crafted to provide comprehensive protection for the optical endstop while making it simple to connect or disconnect as needed. It is designed for use with 1.75mm filament, but can be modified to accommodate 2.85mm filament if desired. However, this upgrade also requires an LCD controller in order to respond to prompts related to filament changes. The sensor will function flawlessly regardless of whether printing is done via USB, SD card, or other means. http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/filament-runout-sensor-frs-upgrade-to-robo-r1-r1.17128/ Print Settings Printer Brand: Robo 3D Printer: R1 ABS + PLA Model Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm/200 micron Infill: 10% Notes: Supports are necessary only for the main body of the design. I printed with the open part facing up, and supports were required to prevent sagging under the overhang.
