Filament Rollenhalter
thingiverse
While shopping for pollen, I stumbled upon ball bearings equipped with a groove and had the idea to use them for a filament roller. To build this design, you will need eight of these small bearings. Unfortunately, the bearings lack a metric thread, so they cannot be secured with screws. I measured the inner diameter of these bearings to be approximately 2mm. Since I still had 2mm copper tubing at home, I discovered that it fit through the bearings without any play. I then constructed a base plate with four bearings to hold the filament roller. With additional bearings on hand, I thought about building a filament guide similar to the cable management of a motor winch. Inside the housing, I included a recess for cleaning the filament using a flow of air and subsequently guiding it through a silicone tube to the extruder. This design should make contamination of the extruder nozzles extremely difficult. The construction was kept as simple as possible to ensure high replicability. The only exception is the top support bracket, which must be attached to the bearing housing with instant adhesive.
