The problem with clips that attach to the roll on the outside is they prevent stacking the rolls. The issue with off-roll clips is they don't function because they are not anchored to the roll and the single loop connected can unwind in reverse. My solution attaches friction-anchored inside the roll so stacking isn't precluded and it won't unwind. It should work fine until the roll is nearly empty. To attach, bend the edge of the roll slightly outward and slide the clip in. The filament won't snap in, so feed it through the bottom hole. Depending on your printer, you may need to rat-tail file it a bit. I printed four clips, and three were perfect; one needed filing.
