Filament feeds through from sides, designed for optimal performance. Underside fitting features pneumatic passthrough fitting, ensuring seamless integration. A specialized Microswitch with lever arm is used to detect filament depletion or breakage. The "Button" version of the Filament Out Side On Sensor box Microswitch offers improved functionality. With previous versions, refeeding filament was cumbersome; the lid had to be removed, and the filament had to pass over the microswitch arm before exiting through the other side. This Improved Button Version features a button that presses the lever on the microswitch, allowing easy filament passage. Chamfers have been added for smooth filament feeding. The design is crafted from thin plastic and is 3D printed for durability. As iteration one, potential improvements may follow. A suggested enhancement is the Filament Runout Optical Sensor Generic Full Enclosure. An untested creation is the Filament Runout Sensors Optical Side on Filament feed. This device is compatible with Marlin firmware and requires ADVANCED_PAUSE_FEATURE in Configuration_adv.h for M600 functionality with FILAMENT_RUNOUT_SENSOR. For connection to the RAMPS 1.4 board, note that Unload filament in Marlin should be set to zero to prevent issues during filament feeding backwards. The design features a part with a 10mm thread for Bowden fitting and has 2.5mm holes for screwing in 3mm bolts for mounting.
