Filament Oiler and Cleaner
thingiverse
I stumbled upon an interesting technique that significantly improved my 3D printing results: oiling my filament before printing made all the difference. I no longer experience bowden jamming or extruder gear clicking, thanks to this simple trick. The extrusion flow is now much more controlled, eliminating under and over extrusion issues altogether. To my surprise, prints adhere better to the hotbed than ever before. To make maintenance easier, I designed a small device that holds cotton for infrequent oiling. I can insert the filament into the device, which then cleans and oils it in one go. The design also includes a clip on the side, allowing me to secure it to the X motor cabling and use it as a filament holder. I created one of these devices for each of my filaments and attached them to their respective reels. This setup has streamlined my printing process and reduced maintenance tasks.
