Filament Odometer
thingiverse
Customize your filament odometer with selectable digit count and units in either centimeters or inches. Choose from decimal, octal, or hexadecimal display formats. Note that binary isn't currently available but may be added if desired. As this is a work-in-progress without a functioning printer, feedback on printing issues or mechanism problems is welcome. This design is inspired by ErikJDurwoodII's work but is a separate project. Number gears consist of three pieces for easier printing and should be assembled with a full nub on the right side and a single nub on the far side (as indicated in instructions). Single nub locations are between 5 & 6 for decimal, between 4 & 5 for octal, and between 9 & A for hexadecimal. A printed shaft is available, but using a small piece of steel rod (2mm by default) is recommended to avoid binding issues. The top cap portion is designed for two-part printing, but a single-piece option with support printing may be included upon request. Lastly, due to print resolution, it's suggested to handwrite the numbers on the wheels rather than printing them. An optional pre-printed number feature is also available.
