Filament Monitor - skrewed prints due to jams don't exist
thingiverse
This Tool vigilantly monitors whether the Filament is moving as expected. If a break, jam, or spool depletion occurs, Marlin instantly halts the printer job, turns off temperatures and moves up Z by 10 mm. The user now has sufficient time to repair the jam, restore position and temperature before resuming the job without significant interruptions. Partlist/Prerequisites Greg Wade's Bowden Extruder (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:18379) HAL Sensor (e.g. A1208, SIP Case, http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/91151.pdf) Marlin Firmware 8pole pin connector(male) with ribbon cable tiny magnet with 2mm diameter and 2 mm height RAMPS 1.3 or 1.4 Board glue Instructions: Print filmonitor.stl. Install the idler correctly. Place the magnet centered on the black ring of the idler. Establish these connections on the pin connector: AUX1 - Purpose - HAL pin(check datasheet) 1 - VDD - 1 2 - VDD 3 - GND - 2 4 - GND 5 - D57 - 3 6 - D1 7 - D58 8 - D0 Install the HAL sensor into the hole of the plastic and connect it to AUX1 of RAMPS. Replace the existing part with this new component into the Extruder. Integrate the patch into Marlin Firmware, recompile and download successfully. During operation, D57 will turn on and off when rotating the wheel. If not working, try flipping either the sensor or magnet. Note: The firmware patch remains unstable. Reference counters might not be correctly initialized sometimes. Hopefully Erik Zalm detects the flaw right away. Happy Printing!
