Filament Level Gauge
thingiverse
Wanted a visual gauge I could use to see how much filament I had left on any given spool. I get all my spools from inkstation.com.au, so if you buy them from there too the gauge should fit no problem. The spools are 1kg and are approximately 196mm in diameter, with the filament going from 13mm to 58mm around the spool as measured from the outside edge towards the centre. I estimated cylindrical volumes and rounded off the percentages to align with 5mm increment notches — hence the percentage filament remaining values. No raft/brim or supports if built as seen in the pics. I used a 0.4mm nozzle, and the following: 0.8mm shell 0.8mm top/bottom 220C nozzle temp 70C bed temp 0.2-0.3mm layer height 70mm/s print speed 10% fill density Given it's a simple design, I imagine you can play around quite a bit with the settings. I have included two files, the first one is a loose fitting one that can be easily slipped on/off to check; with v2 being a tighter fit that clamps onto the brim of my spools and will rotate along with the spool.
With this file you will be able to print Filament Level Gauge with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Filament Level Gauge.
