I'm sick of tossing out prints because of filament tangling and subsequent extruder blockages. So, I designed this filament monitor to alert me when the filament gets stuck in the printer. Save countless prints! Based on Arduino and a simple mechanical encoder, it emits a beep when the filament wheel stops moving for more than 3 seconds. To keep the filament in constant contact with the encoder wheel, place springs between the base and the push rod. A bearing type 606 is needed to secure the top of the encoder shaft to the base assembly. You can add an elastic or something on the wheel seat to improve grip. Work in progress! Comments and modifications are welcome! Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 200 micron Infill: 30%
