Filament holder with friction control

thingiverse

This is the upgraded design of the filament holder: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2568123, now featuring a crucial enhancement - added friction to prevent random unwinding, a problem that can cause issues during printing. I utilized 0.1mm thin metal sheet (originally from stencils) and securely fastened it with double adhesive to one of the bearing holders for stability. Additionally, four pieces of felt were attached to the arms of the friction plate using double adhesive, giving it a precise touch. The arms holding the felt have an inherent spring-like property, similar to leaves, allowing for easy adjustment of the friction force by inserting the correct washer (friction spacer) between the friction wheel and the bearing. The filament holder now boasts both smooth movement and controlled friction - it works flawlessly! Although designed specifically for MakerBot Replicator2, this design can be easily adapted for use with other 3D printers simply by swapping out the attachment plate.
