filament holder Spinning top
thingiverse
The filament lies flat on top of a holder secured by a 50 mm cylinder protrusion. It spins freely on a central dome and when it wavers, comes to rest on a secondary doughnut-shaped platform. If the filament shifts out of position, the doughnut steps onto an inner retaining ring, pushing against the other side and causing it to "walk" off the edge towards the center. This system works well without the retaining ring but exhibits some instability. It might be beneficial to print the retaining ring slightly larger than its current 1:1 scale, as this small size is proving insufficient.
