Filament Holder Ender 3
myminifactory
I've been experiencing recurring under-extrusion issues with my Ender 3. Noticing that the filament spool failed to unwind smoothly, I swapped it out for a setup where it rests on ball bearings atop the table and suddenly those problems vanished. However, I prefer keeping the filament on top of the printer. So here's my take on a custom filament holder for the Ender 3. In addition to the 3D printed components, I needed some extra parts, specifically four 608zz bearings and two axles. I opted for 8mm aluminum tubing but five-sixteenth dowel should also work just fine. I've shared the source files on GitHub as well. To print this setup, I tackled each component separately – frame, rollers, and washers. Here are my recommendations for settings: Print the frame with supports enabled Print the washers with a brim to ensure secure attachment Print the roller halves without support for optimal results To assemble this filament holder, you'll need the following quantities: Frame (Frame.stl): one unit Roller A (Roller A.stl): two units Roller B (Roller B.stl): two units Washer (Washer.stl): four units You'll also require some non-3D printed parts: Bearings 608zz: four units Axles 8mm diameter: two units
