Filament Holder

This is a simple filament holder mounted on the top bar of a Prusa i3MK3 to hold the free end of the filament during a color change. This is sized for 1.75mm filament.I typically cut the filament above the print head so I can change the rolls while the printer nozzle is heating up for unloading. I simply push the new filament down through the tapered hole in the holder to secure it so it doesn't wind back up on the spool. I attached the holder to the frame using a 3M Command strip trimmed to the correct width. There's a lip on the top of the holder to keep the part aligned when mounting it to the frame and provide a little more strength when pushing the filament down through the hole.Flip the model 180 degrees on the build plate when printing so it can be printed without supports. I printed it with PLA, but think any material will work.
