I always despise standard supports for filament rolls on tables, so I design in 2 minutes this little arm that keeps the roll in place. This was created for a 2.1 frame of the P3 Steel, but you only need to drill one small hole to secure this arm. The hole in the arm measures 55mm in diameter, making it easy to fit a tube with a 53mm dimension. No bearings are required due to its solid construction. I utilized SolidWorks's convenient thread-drawing feature and added M12 threads into the part for enhanced functionality. However, you will need to trim these threads after printing for easier use. For secure fixation, I recommend using an M12x20 or 30 bolt. I personally prefer a DIN7991 M12x20 countersunk bolt, which is why I created a small plate to accommodate it. The top bolt on the arm serves as a backup in case you are using filament rolls with smaller holes. The maximum height of this arm is approximately 195mm, so be sure to check if your printer can handle it before printing. The tube holding the roll is 150mm long and can be extended if desired. To create this part, simply draw a tube with an outer diameter of 53mm and a wall thickness of about 3mm – this should provide ample support for most objects. I have also added a table fixation option with an 18mm gap, which works perfectly fine for me. Print Settings: Printer: P3 Steel Toolson Edition Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% (haven't tested lower settings) Notes: Printed with PETG, but other materials will also work well – except for Flex. Due to the height of these objects, it's essential to ensure they remain on the print bed throughout the process. You might need to use rafts or supports, especially around the large hole at the top. The bridge area can be a bit tricky, but since this section is out of sight, you can easily repair any issues with a knife and some sandpaper.
