Filament guide replacement for Eventorbot direct extruder
thingiverse
I replaced the old metal filament guide with Shmorgans MK7 Type Extruder - Heavy Duty for better performance. The new extruder is built into my existing direct extruder, and I disliked spring-loaded filament guides with only one arm. Although it's not designed for quick loading, the new extruder provides more pressure on the filament. Additionally, I switched the motor direction for stability and reduced material waste. Currently, the motor hangs in the air, but I may add a roller support later. Lastly, I will adjust the hinge axis under the drive gear to enhance filament pressure. The initial design had an issue with lifting the motor, which has been resolved in the updated version. With the extruder motor set at 55C and printing PLA with 3 shells and 25% infill, there should be no issues.
