Filament Guide Pulley for Ender 3 with Dual-Drive Extruder Upgrade
thingiverse
I've taken tim17's original filament pulley design and adapted it to work seamlessly with my dual-drive extruder upgrade on my Ender 3. This modification ensures the filament feeds into the extruder at a precise 90-degree angle, eliminating any abrasive entry dust. The dual-drive extruder has a higher feed hole than standard, so I've elevated the pulley mount accordingly to compensate for this difference. The result is a smooth and efficient filament flow that minimizes dust and debris around the extruder entry point. Kudos to tim17 for creating such an elegant design! Their original concept is a game-changer when it comes to reducing filament abrasion, rather than simply relocating the issue as some other guides do. I'm running my pulley in conjunction with Filboyt's 2020/Ender Filament Guide, which I've installed high up on the printer. This setup has allowed me to print large objects without any noticeable dust or debris around the extruder entry point. One minor adjustment I made was to use longer M3 screws for mounting. The stock 10mm screws barely reached, so I opted for 12-18mm screws instead. This gave me plenty of room to adjust the lead screw guide screws and tweak my z-axis performance without any binding or slipping issues.
