Filament Guide for Up! with Integral Filament Cleaner

thingiverse

Avoiding clogged nozzles, this Thing features open-cell foam inside for dust prevention when passing filament. The foam is securely held, avoiding loose pieces during filament changes. Unlike typical designs, it mounts on the spool's centerline and pivots self-adjustingly to filament amounts. It also includes air connections for forced-air cooling schemes, providing stable anchor points. This Thing was designed with TinkerCAD and can be edited here or here. To use it, print the parts and screw the head onto the bracket with an M4 machine screw, possibly adding a rubber washer to prevent floppiness. Adjust the tension for pivoting according to extruder demands. Insert a chunk of foam (1x1x3/4") into the compartment, and secure the assembly to your Up! printer by bolting it in place. Guide filament through the foam and up into the filament guide tube for clog-free printing.
