Filament Guide for Prusa Mk2/Mk3
prusaprinters

This is a filament guide meant for use on Prusa MK2 and MK3 printers. I prefer to have my filament feed directly from my filament dryer instead of the top using the top mounted spool holders. With a goal of having no moving parts, I came up with these guides (2 of them) to feed filament from the left or right of the printer.

Added a V2 of the design that is meant to be a little stiffer. V2 clips are chamfered to avoid a condition where the filament might get caught on a sharp corner.

Parts List:

- 2X Guide Mounting Clips

- 1X Filament Guide Body

- 1X PTFE Tube (154mm in length)

Installation Tips:

- Be sure to use the clips to mount the guide body to the back of the bar. This will prevent the extruder from colliding with the guide when at max height.

- I like to chamfer the inner diameter of the PTFE tubing with an X-acto knife at each end to help guide the filament through the tube should there be a slight misalignment between the holes.

- Feed the PTFE tubing through the center support so that it protrudes about evenly on either side then feed each end of the PTFE tube into the end supports.

I've only printed this in PETG at .2 layer height. If you have success with PLA please comment and let everyone know. Criticism and feedback is welcome. I'm currently considering adding some additional material so that it flexes less, but feeding the filament through doesn't seem to be enough to flex it
