Filament Guide & Filament Tensioning Clip for Wanhao Duplicator D6 / Monoprice Maker Ultimate
thingiverse
On certain long moves of the printhead, my filament would frequently become unwound from the spool and get tangled around the spoolholder. So I created two parts that can also be used independently: 1. A filament guide held in place by the acrylic hood will keep the filament at a fixed position on the back of your printer without adding any resistance, ensuring print quality remains unaffected. 2. A small filament tensioning clip simply clips around the filament and keeps it taut so it won't unwind from the spool. You'll need the spring from a clothes-peg to combine the two halves of the clip as well as some kind of weight to attach to the clip. I used a large metal washer, but anything you can glue to the clip will work just fine. You can experiment with different weights, but 20-30 grams is enough. There are two versions of the tensioning clip: one has a lug to press a washer onto and the other is flat.
