Filament Grommet Designed to Secure Plastic Tubs and Totes, Features a 3mm Diameter Center Hole Requiring a Short Section of Bowden Tubing for Low Friction Air Tight Seal. The Part is Attached to the Container Wall or Lid Using Three 8mm M3 Bolts, No Nuts Required but Can Be Used with Longer Bolts. The seal is not strictly airtight due to a gap between the filament and the inside of the bowden tubing, as well as air being pulled into the container when removing filament. However, this seal will be sufficient for water-soluble support materials if the container contains a desiccant like silica gel. Print Settings: Supports: No Resolution: 4mm nozzle, 0.25mm layer height Infill: 10% Post-Printing Requirements: A well-fitting air-tight lid for the plastic tote or tub is required. Three 8mm M3 bolts are needed. A bowden tube with a 3mm external diameter and 1.75 internal diameter is necessary. A small drill bit and needle file will also be required. Double-sided tape should be on hand. Assembly Instructions: Place the bottom section against the inside wall of a suitable sealable container, mark, and drill four 3mm holes. Insert the three 8mm M3 bolts and bowden tube into the top section, partially screw them in so they are flush with the base. If necessary, enlarge the holes with a needle file to ensure a tight fit. Inserting the bowden tube is the most challenging part due to its slippery nature; gripping it with a cotton cloth can aid in this process (be cautious when using pliers as crimped or deformed bowden tube may result). Place both parts on either side of the container wall and tighten them together using bolts. A small amount of double-sided tape between the parts and container will enhance the seal. The bowden tubing can be cut to match the size of the grommet or extended from the extruder to the container. Place filament on a suitable spool holder inside the container with some silica gel, then close the lid securely.
