Filament Fuser Block
thingiverse
The Fuser Block empowers you to quickly and securely join two ends of your 3D printing filament together in just about 10 seconds. This innovative tool allows you to recycle leftover filament, extend the length of your spools for long prints, and add color changes to your prints with ease! The printed parts enable a safe and stable hold on the heated block under a hinged guard, while clamping everything firmly to the side of a table. It works flawlessly on both 2.85mm and 1.75mm filament in any printing material. With the Fuser Block, you can precisely control the temperature by simply plugging the two-pinned connectors into your existing 3D printer controller. These 3D printing models are shared here for free, but to complete the assembly you'll need to purchase the associated hardware kit from the EngineerDog Store here: https://engineerdog.com/store/filament-fuser/. For comprehensive assembly and use instructions, visit 3D Printing.com here: http://3dprinting.com/how-to/fuse-filament-home/... Don't forget to check out the recommended print settings in the attached image. Watch our video demo at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnTNdcKsNT0 for a firsthand look at how it works. Update: We've now included a printable jaw cover that fits perfectly on standard 6" slip joint pliers, allowing you to further compact and strengthen the bond as it cools. UPDATE 1: Please note that this device is designed to be controlled by your existing 3D printer controller. While this is a breeze for reprap printers, some commercial devices may require additional setup. If you're looking for a standalone solution, consider getting the affordable complete reprap ramps kit from Amazon here: http://amzn.to/2dODHgg - it's an easy and cost-effective way to get up and running! UPDATE 2: We've added a new part called "Clamp Face V2," which replaces the original clamp face and eliminates the need for a nut.
