Improved the design to enhance functionality. Boosted strength at mounting point and simplified securement by concealing visual obstruction. The innovative T-nut is easier to grasp and twist, boasting an integral hole for auxiliary spring installation if desired. Two variations of the spring exist: one with a key to prevent rotational movement, while the other accommodates flat mounting at any angle. Filament feed tension spring engineered specifically for aluminum extrusions frequently utilized in printers. Functions similarly to a fishing pole. Deflection and tension escalate until the spool unwinds filament, alleviating pressure. A consistent and low-tension force produces an improved flex filament print surface and assists with PLA printing of gears. An additional feature involves maintaining tension on the spool during rapid filament retracts, which prevents outer PLA filament turns from unraveling, crossing, or tangling. For minimal filament tension, employ a spool holder equipped with a ball-bearing axle. In the first illustration, a 5mm shaft traverses two ball bearings, with the spool situated between them. Some spool friction is necessary to prevent gravity-induced unwinding of the entire spool with flex filament. PLA material is not ideal for spring fabrication, but available resources can be utilized. The hole clearance is tightly toleranced; a drill should be employed for accurate installation. The wheel should rotate smoothly without lubrication. Print the lever spring in its current orientation and flip the other two parts to a flat configuration. The T-clip bottom features chamfers, ensuring proper orientation without requiring supports. Designed using Fusion 360 and printed on a Cetus3D MK2.
