Filament extrusion test (calibration)

First off, I strongly recommend printing the XYZ calibration cube with no infill and no top layer to calibrate wall line calibration as well as measuring your filament. This is a step extrusion multiplier test printed from 2mm to 6mm. You will need some calipers (if you have two, this would provide a more accurate reading). Measure each step, which will help determine the extrusion multiplier required. To work out the multiplier, the formula is very straightforward: take the measurement it's supposed to be and divide by the measurement reading, for example 3 ÷ 2.62 = 1.14503186 or 1.15 +/- . However, as calipers can vary in measurement, I would measure all five steps and then take the average and use that to determine the extrusion multiplier. This is only an advisory for most beginners; if your width and height are not more or less the same as the height, you could have the bed too hot or your bed is not at the right height.
