Filament Estimator Dip Stick (for opaque spools)
thingiverse
As easy as checking the oil in your car! Now you can use the Filament Estimator Stick with opaque spools, with this handy dip version. Just put it against the top of the rolled filament and read the scale where it meets the spool's outer edge. The measure allows you to roughly estimate remaining filament mass (grams). However, the formulas don't care what filament remaining measure you use, so you can input e.g. filament length instead. The supplied configuration measures Add North PLA 750g spools correctly. The scale is in grams. Use the customizer to adjust for another filament. Also, see the image showing the locations of the measurements. The "sample" measurement is anywhere where you know the radius of the filament and how much it weighs (hint: You can usually find the weight of a spool at the supplier, if you don't have any empty spools to weigh. The value I got was a bit off though.) Printed with 0.2mm layer height. Surface will get smoother if you print it face down.
