Filament Duck - filament spool stand
thingiverse
Achieving a filament-free print can be challenging, as hours of browsing Thingiverse and multiple failed spool holder designs prove. Many prints have been canceled due to filament knots, but the solution lies in a fresh approach: the Filament Duck. This design is simple, easy to use, has an excellent form factor, requires no supports or assembly, and uses no extra parts. The low-quality profile takes around 3 hours. To ensure first layers stay flat on the building plate during printing, it's recommended to use helper disks (accessible in MakerWare via File -> Examples -> Helper Disks) or even a raft. Although usable without an even stand if first layers lift, the product will look better with little holes for small rubber feet that provide secure standing.
