I recently purchased a Salton VitaPro model DH1454, which seems to offer identical performance to purpose-built filament dryers for significantly less money. To adapt this device to my needs, I removed the center section from three trays and crafted a clip that securely holds them together. This design modification has proven to be quite effective. In addition to its primary function as a 3D printer filament dryer, I also use it as a food dehydrator by ordering extra trays. A crucial feature of this device is temperature control, which, according to experts, is essential for achieving optimal results in filament drying. Notably, using the Salton VitaPro has made a noticeable difference in my prints. They now stick together much better after being dried with this system. To further enhance convenience, I created a custom feeder box that allows me to feed filament directly into the printer without having to worry about spools. This setup was achieved by combining elements from various online designs and materials found at home.
